Sparkle clean’s story
Continuing Innovation
In September 2017, Steve Swindle (Bob’s son) was hired to manage the office—this resulted in a complete re-imagination of how the day-to-day operations of the company were handled. Scheduling and field management software was adopted, processes were streamlined, operating procedures were standardized, and quality control enhanced. In January 2022, Steve purchased half of the company and became a full partner in the business, tasked with leading the company into the future.
1996:
A Simple Beginning
Sparkle Clean Services was founded in October 1996 by two lifelong friends, Joe Bencivenga and Bob Swindle. Joe had worked construction for most of his life and Bob had spent his life in Christian ministry, so starting a window cleaning business seemed inevitable. They secured a line of credit from a local bank that allowed them to purchase one truck, one ladder, and some basic window cleaning equipment, and Sparkle Clean was born.
Early Commitment to Community
Initial clients were secured by walking from business to business and office to office offering window cleaning services. The business grew quickly, and within 6 months the entire line of credit had been paid back. Both families were able to take regular sustaining salaries.
Many of those early clients are still with us to this day, underscoring our commitment to building long-lasting partnerships and our reliability in providing the services for which we are hired.
An Expanding Team
We were quickly able to hire our first employee and shortly thereafter a second. At this point, Bob’s role shifted entirely to the office, and Joe became responsible for handling the field side of the business. We ensured that every call was answered and every estimate was delivered within 48 hours. This responsiveness became our hallmark, distinguishing Sparkle Clean from the rest of the industry.
These commitments to availability and responsiveness are ongoing to this day.
Addition of New Services
As the business continued to grow, vehicles and employees were added, and additional services became part of our offerings. Today not only are we leading providers of window cleaning, but also gutter cleaning, moss treatment, pressure washing, solar panel cleaning, and more. In 2010, Bob retired, and Joe became the sole owner of the business. In 2012, Joe was able to purchase property that allowed the office, vehicles, and equipment to be contained in a single location.
